The Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department is a non-profit organization that provides fire and emergency services for the town of Capitol Heights. We are located about 5 miles from our Nation's Capital, in Prince George's County, Maryland and serve approximately 3633 citizens. Our station is staffed by both volunteer and career personnel.

National EMS Memorial Bike Ride to Stop at Station 5
On Tuesday, May 20, 2008 the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride will stop at Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department on their way to the U.S. Capitol.
CHVFD Participates in the Harlem Renaissance Festival
On Saturday, May 3, 2008 Capitol Heights volunteers staffed the Fire Safety House and handed our fire safety materials at the Harlem Renaissance Festival.
CHVFD Starts New Community Support Program
We would like to thank the members of Faith Tabernacle of Prayer and Praise Church for their donation of teddy bears and other assorted stuffed animals for our new Creatures of Comfort program.
Company 5 Completes 20th Annual Christmas in April
On April 26, 2008 the members and staff of Company 5 participated in the 20th Annual Christmas in April project. The department has been participating in the event for since its inception in 1989.
CHVFD Mourns the Loss of Grafton Boswell
On Sunday, December 9, 2007 Grafton Boswell, lifetime member of Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. We offer our sincerest condolences to Grafton's family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Oscar Poore Remembered at Founder's Circle
On September 29, 2007 Oscar Poore was included on the Founders Circle Memorial located at the Cranford-Graves Fire Service Building in Landover Hills, Maryland. Oscar's name was inscribed on the Capitol Heights stone for being instrumental in the history of our station.
