CHVFD Ladies Auxiliary Wins Second Place In MSFA Pajama Parade

What would the MSFA convention be without the Annual Pajama Parade? It has become a popular form of nighttime entertainment, bringing firefighters, auxiliary entrants from across the state of Maryland.

Contestants compete in one of two categories: the pajama or the costume division. A mixed panel of judges from MSFA and MSFALA judges the contestants.

Capitol Heights has gained considerable notoriety for their original and creative costumes. This year’s contest was no different – the delegation from CHVFDLA had something cooked up for Ocean City Mayor Mathias.

MSFA Convention visitors see “Cicada Free” message on the billboard outside the Convention Center. Little did Mayor Mathias and the rest of Ocean City know that Capitol Heights has a breed of cicadas that love the beach.

With signs that read “Bring Us Your Mayor” the CHVFD Ladies Auxiliary Cicadas invaded the MSFA Convention on Tuesday, June 15, 2004.

Bob, Mary, and Sara Russell, along with Vivian Morgan and Brandy Adams made a surprise entrance after the parade had marched in. Their cicada invasion did not yield an audience with the Mayor but it did win them second place in the costume division.

Congratulations gang on another win!
