Rain didn’t hamper Company 5 from its participation in the annual Christmas in April project on April 30, 2005. The members and career staff have been participating in the event since its inception in 1989.
This year’s project saw record participation despite the dismal weather. Members came out to help with the project, which was actually a fairly light task. Members of Company 5, the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and others did planting, cleaning gutters, painting, some work in the kitchen and bathrooms, and light cleaning.
Unfortunately, we were unable to complete the outside painting due to the weather. Painting supplies were provided so that work could be done at a later date.
Our host was very grateful and she welcomed us with coffee, breakfast and a smile. We hope that smile continues and that we made a difference in her life.
After the project was completed, members and our host were invited back to the station for lunch prepared by our ladies auxiliary.
Thanks to our House Captain John Weaver and all who came out to participate. We look forward to next year’s project.
