Company 5 Members and Staff Take Part in Their 18th Christmas in April Project

The members and staff of Company 5 participated in the annual Christmas in April project on April 29, 2006. The department has been participating in the event since its inception in 1989.

Participation numbers continued to climb with a record number of 46 fire department participants; 38 of those workers were from Station 5. Companies 8 (B-Shift) and 46 were also represented. Battalion Chief 1 was also on hand at the day’s event.

Duities included repairing/replacing gutters, replacing broken glass, some electrical work, painting, yardwork and cleaning. The biggest project consisted of the clearing of brush on one fenceline of the property. Christmas in April participants cleared 4 truckloads of brush from that area of the property.

Our host was thankful for our hard work and we hope she enjoys her revamped home and yard.

After the project was completed, members and our host posed for a group photo. Everyone was invited back the station for lunch prepared by our ladies auxiliary.

During lunch we celebrated with our “soon-to-be” graduate Shammit Chaki. “Schmitty” will be graduating from Catholic University in May.

Company 5 again had another successful year with the Christmas in April project. Thanks to our House Captains John Weaver and Lt. Frank Fluharty for organizing this year’s project. We’re proud of all members and personnel who came out to participate.
