National EMS Week Celebrated with Community CPR Event

The Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department held a Community CPR Training Course on May 20, 2006. The students were taught adult and pediatric CPR by EMS Captain Margie Byrd and Paramedic Lt. Tina Fitzgerald.

This class took place during National EMS Week 2006. Although community CPR courses have been provided in the past, this is the first time the event has been held in conjunction with National EMS Week. While turnout was lower than expected, we look forward to making this course an annual event during National EMS Week.

Congratulations to the students who participated in the course. Thank you for helping us make our community safer.

The Community CPR Training Course is part of Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department’s aggressive Fire Prevention and Life Safety Program. We also offer fire prevention and life safety information through our door-to-door campaign and through our open house and community events.
