On April 26, 2008, the members and staff of Company 5 participated in the 20th Annual Christmas in April project. The department has been participating in the event for since its inception in 1989.
This year’s project was in Company 5’s first due and had over 40 participants; Over 20 of those workers were volunteers and career staff from Station 5. Company 8 (B-Shift) and Battalion Chief Strain were also on hand at the day’s event. Ladies from the Soulful Sisters Social Club, St. Paul Baptist Church, and a local high school student worked hard alongside department members to make this year’s project a success.
Duties included both interior and exterior painting, yardwork, general repairs and cleaning.
Our host was thankful for our hard work and we hope she enjoys her revamped home and yard.
After the project was completed, members and our host posed for a group photo.
Company 5 again had another successful year with the Christmas in April project. Thanks to our House Captain John Weaver for organizing this year’s project. We’re proud of all members, personnel and community members who came out to participate.
