We’ve Got You Covered Program Donates Fire Prevention Book Covers to Capitol Heights Students

Fire Prevention Book Cover
The Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department is excited to announce the We’ve Got You Covered program; our department has developed a custom fire prevention textbook cover especially for elementary students in our community. This colorful book cover, funded in part through a grant from the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Maryland State Firemen’s Association, was developed by the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department and features prevention and safety tips on the back. What a great way to start the school year and practice safety all year long! Each year, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department responds to many fires and emergencies that are preventable; but through community awareness and fire prevention we can avoid these tragedies. Our department believes that fire prevention and life safety education extends well beyond the annual Fire Prevention Week. Taking a proactive approach in developing prevention programs, we do not wait until a tragedy occurs to talk about preventing the next fire. We strive for better ways to deliver our prevention messages and look for ways to maintain our partnerships within our community. The We’ve Got You Covered program is just one of the many prevention efforts that the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department has developed to make safety a year-round topic. We’ve also developed custom fire prevention and safety literature, introduced a proactive door-to-door fire prevention campaign, and provide interactive learning experience to families through Fire Safety House 5. Fire Safety House 5 is a fire prevention and life safety education trailer that visits many community events throughout the year, including: the Harlem Renaissance Festival, Capitol Heights Day, fire department open houses, school prevention activities, and various other events. In addition, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department is also pleased to announce that our annual Fire Prevention and Life Safety Day will be held this fall after our station renovations are complete. Additional information about this event will be provided, as we get closer to the event.
