On September 17, 2004, Bob Russell was inducted into the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association’s Hall of Fame.
Robert “Bob” Russell joined the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department in 1976. During this time he has progressed through the ranks, both as an operational officer and administrative officer. He has held the ranks of Firefighter / EMT, Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief (which he currently holds). Administratively he has held the positions of Vice President and President. He currently holds the office of Secretary.
Bob is very active in the workings of the station. He currently leads our efforts in volunteer recruitment and retention. He has spent many hours assisting with fund raising, fire prevention and other community outreach programs.
In addition to being active around the station, Bob represents the department as a delegate to the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association. He has represented us as a delegate for many years and is very active in the workings of the Association. He has worked on Association’s Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Committee and has participated in events, including staffing the first aid tents at the County Fair the past several years and this year’s Heritage Festival. Bob currently represents District 4 on the Association’s Board of Directors, a position that he has held for the past 5 years. Bob has also served as a delegate to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association the past several years.
Bob has also served as a member of the Prince George’s County Fire Commission. He was the District 4 Commissioner for 2000-2001.
