Career Staffing Removed by County Fire Chief

Prince George’s County Fire Chief Eugene Jones removes all career staffing from the fire station as part of a new staffing plan. Over the course of next few months Chief Jones reassigned the County owned pumper (Engine 51) to the new St. Joseph Fire Station 6, the ladder truck (Truck 5) to Ritchie – Station 37, the paramedic ambulance to District Heights – Station 26 and placed the Medical Care Support Unit out of service. The Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department continued to operate an engine company (Engine 52) and a basic ambulance (Ambulance 58). The department initiated a massive recruitment drive, so that we could continue to provide service to the Town of Capitol Heights. We continue to recruit and train new members to this day. WE are still here!
