Volunteer and career personnel completed an 18 month project to go door-to-door to every residence in our primary response area handing out fire safety literature, checking and installing a smoke alarms or changing batteries as necessary. On November 8, 2006 Fire Chief Lawrence Sedgewick presented career and volunteer personnel from Capitol Heights with a Unit Citation for this project. Chief Sedgewick also presented a Unit Citation on behalf of Firehouse Magazine.
