The Washington Herald reported that fire destroyed a two story house, a stable and an office building, owned by O.B. Zantsinger . Soon after this incident, Mr. Zantsinger donated land to the department for the construction a shed to store fire buckets and a ladder. The shed later stored the hand drawn hose cart.
