U.S. Marine Corps – 1st Battalion, Alpha Company, 3rd Platoon; Headquarters Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion

Lance Corporal Robert W. Fralin II, who started out in Air Force ROTC at Largo High School, joined the U.S. Marine Corp in February 1982. After delayed entry, to graduate high school, Fralin left in June 1982 for Boot Camp at Paris Island, S.C. He remained at Paris Island for 3 months and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, Alpha Company, 3rd Platoon. He then went to Camp Lejeune, N.C. for infantry training. His unit was on alert for possible deployment after the bombing of the Marine Corp Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. Later, he was reassigned to the Headquarters Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion at the Marine Corp Development and Education Command in Quantico, VA where he served an IBM OS System 360 Computer Operator. Lance Corporal Robert W. Fralin II was honorably discharged in June 1986 and was awarded Expert Rifleman, Pistol Expert, Good Conduct and National Defense medals.
