It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary President Frances Loretta Hooe on July 7, 2014.
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Herbert Miller, Lifetime Member of the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department. Herbert passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 after a sudden illness at his home in Riva, Maryland.

5-Year-Old Critically Burned
July 17, 1939 -- The Washington Post reports that a five year old girl was critically burned when a box of matches exploded in her hands while in the yard of her family's home on Central Avenue. The girl's mother and father were also burned, but their injuries were less serious.
