Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department goes pink this October; members and career staff will participate in several local events for Breast Cancer Awareness.
The www.chvfd.org website will feature a pink ribbon and the red paint scheme will changed to match Engine 805B in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.
Engine 805B, also known as “Pinky,” helps raise awareness and is always a big hit with community members and Breast Cancer survivors. Starting in late September, you will be able to see “Pinky” at serveral events in the D.C. metropolitan area.
The first of these events took place this past weekend, on September 29, at the Largo Healthy Tailgate sponsored by Kaiser Permanente. Members brought “Pinky” to the Largo Medical Center prior to the the Redskins game. Former Redskins players where in attendance, along with the Redskins Band, Redskins Cheerleaders, and Olympic Medalist Dominique Dawes.
