Truck 5 Responds to Working House Fire in Fairmont Heights
On Saturday, March 13, 2005, shortly before 1400 hours, units were dispatched for a reported house fire, with people trapped at 60th Avenue and L Street in Fairmont Heights (Station 38’s first due). Units dispatched included: Engine 384 (Chapel Oaks), Engine 83 (Seat Pleasant), Engine 331 (Kentland), Truck 5 (Capitol Heights), Quint 22 (Tuxedo-Cheverly), Truck 17 (Boulevard Heights) and Battalion Chief 1 (Chief 38A – Gansert).

CHVFD Participates In Multi-Jurisdictional Metro Drill
On Saturday, October 16, 2004, units from fire departments in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia participated in the mock disaster. Units from Prince George’s County included: Engine 461 from Kentland – Station 46; Tower 33 from Kentland – Station 33; Engine 51, Metro Support Unit 5 and Paramedic Ambulance 5 from Capitol Heights – Station 5, Rescue Squad 8 from Seat Pleasant – Station 8 and Quint 22 from Tuxedo Cheverly – Station 22.
Magdalene Schmidt Included On Founder’s Circle Memorial
On October 9, 2004, Mrs. Magdalene Schmidt was included on the Founders Circle Memorial located at the Cranford-Graves Fire Service Building in Landover Hills, Maryland. Mrs. Schmidt’s name was inscribed on the Capitol Heights stone for being instrumental in the history of our station.
CHVFD Celebrates Its 90th Anniversary
On September 25, 2004, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department celebrated its 90th Anniversary of incorporation. In addition our Ladies Auxiliary also celebrated their 84th Anniversary as the “First Organized Ladies Auxiliary in the United States.”

Progress Made With Building Rennovation
Plans for the upcoming building project continues to progress. The architect, WMCRP, Inc., had submitted 50% Construction Documents for review and comment. The 100% Construction Documents are scheduled for completion in September 2004. It is anticipated that the project will be put out to bid and a construction contract awarded this fall.

Chief McClelland named firefighter of the year at MSFA convention
