Rehab Progess: Engine 52 Has Been Painted
On June 16, 2005, members from the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department brought Engine 52 to Emergency Vehicle Specialists (EVS) in Hagerstown, Maryland for its rehabilitation. As of September 16, 2005, we continue to make progress on the rehab.
Three Rescued from District Heights Apartment Building Fire
Just after 4:00 pm, Monday, August 29, 2005, Prince George’s County Firefighters and Paramedics were alerted for an apartment fire in District Heights. Fire/EMS units responded to 6944 Walker Mill Road with the first engine to arrive finding a four-story apartment building with smoke coming from a second floor unit.
Car Crashes Through Tavern Next to Quarters

CHVFD Responds to 2 Alarm Apartment Fire in Silver Hill
On Saturday, July 23, 2005, at 1102 hours units were dispatched to 3919 23rd Parkway on Box 29-10 for an apartment fire. Engines 422,371, 384; Trucks 32, 25; Rescue Squad 47 and Battalion Chief 5 responded.

Mr. & Mrs. Sam Minor III welcomed their new baby boy into the world on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. Samuel L Minor IV weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 21.5″ long.
CHVFD Receives Award for Their Support of National Guard Troops
On Friday, May 6, 2005, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department received an “Above and Beyond Award” from the Maryland Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve Committee. Chief James McClelland attended the 2005 Maryland ESGR Awards Luncheon and accepted the award on the department’s behalf. The awards luncheon was held at the Radisson Inn, located in Annapolis, Maryland.
