Fire Safety House 5 Makes Its Debut at Capitol Heights Day

Just after midnight on May 30, 2007, units were dispatched for a reported building fire at 7109 Donnell Place in Forestville. Units arriving to the Holly Hill Condominiums found heavy fire conditions on rear of the building.

The members and staff of Company 5 participated in the annual Christmas in April project on April 28, 2007. The department has been participating in the event since its inception in 1989.
It is with great pride that we report that our very own Bill Hawkins received a Valor Award at the April 25th Awards Luncheon for his efforts to rescue two trapped workers from a sewer. He has also been awarded a 2007 Firehouse Heroism Award from Firehouse Magazine.
On January 11, 2007, at approximately 12:00 am Prince George’s County Public Safety Communications dispatched an auto accident in the 500 block of Larchmont Avenue. Engine 52, Paramedic Ambulance 5, Rescue Squad 8, Medic 46, EMS 1 and Battalion Chief 1 were alerted to the call.
Just a few days before Christmas, there was a knock at the engine room door. And what did the crew find but a man dressed in red velour. It was our good pal Santa, all cheery and bright, but what was he doing in Capitol Heights on a Thursday night?
Members of the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department pitched in to help SHARE Food, a local non-profit, throughout the month of November. This was particularly important because SHARE was in desperate need of volunteer help distributing food, during this Thanksgiving season of giving.
On November 8, 2006, personnel from the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department (Prince George’s County Fire Station #5) were presented with several awards for its Door-to-Door Fire Safety Campaign.
On October 14, 2006, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department conducted its Annual Fire Prevention and Life Safety Day from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department is a non-profit organization that provides fire and emergency services for the town of Capitol Heights and surrounding communities. We are located about 5 miles from our nation’s capital, in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Our station is staffed both by career and volunteer personnel.
