2015 CHVFD Tree of Courage Raises Awareness and Funds to Help Those with Cancer
The Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2015 Tree of Courage. This special tree was placed in tribute to our loved ones who have battled with cancer.

Each of us knows someone whose life has been affected by cancer. This holiday season, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate those who have courageously battled this horrible disease on a special Tree of Courage.
Charles “Charlie” Baldi Inducted into PGVFRA Hall of Fame
The Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce that Charlie Baldi has been inducted into the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association’s Hall of Fame. On September 17, 2015, we accepted Charlie’s Hall of Fame certificate on his behalf and presented it to him at a later date.
Robert E. McClelland Inducted into the MSFA Hall of Fame
He represents the second of four generations to serve in the volunteer fire service in Prince George’s County. We are proud of his service and cannot think of a better way to acknowledge his service to our department, community, County and State.
George A. Adams Inducted into the Founders’ Circle
Just weeks before, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department lost member Richard Ager, George’s grandson, who was one of several family members involved with the department. Members of the department stood in for Richard, and along with grandson Al Adams to celebrate the accomplishments of our first leader.
Firefighter Phil Brown Receives the Norris J. Beard Junior Firefighter of the Year Award
One of youngest firefighters of the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department , 17-year-old Capitol Heights resident Phil Brown works hard at being the best firefighter he can be. The T.C. Williams High School Senior joined the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department in 2013 and is an asset to the department.
CHVFD Mourns the Loss of Honorary Lifetime Member Richard Ager
It is with great sadness that we report that Honorary Lifetime Member Richard Ager died on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Richard joined the department in 1942 as a junior member. In August, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department made Richard an Honorary Lifetime Member, for his previous service to the department and for being valuable resource for documenting our company’s history.

Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department Celebrates a Century of Service with Parade and Fire Helmet Blessing
Wheels will roll, lights will flash and sirens will sound in celebration this weekend in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate its 100th birthday with a parade through the Town of Capitol Heights on July 12, 2014.
CHVFD Mourns the Loss of Lifetime Member Herbert Miller
Herbert was active in sports and participated in the fire department softball and bowling leagues. He was the pitcher for the department’s softball team and helped lead the team to many victories.
